Alright. Looooooooong ass post today. Hopefully I'll be able to finish this tonight. Otherwise I'll just post it up half-done and work on it more as time allows.

I want to cover:
[x]Saturday's Graphic Design Class
[x]Fondue @ Swiss Restaurant
[o]Yanakou Look-alike & Eiji Cosplayer
[o]AOD's PLC "Psycho-logy Tour" Concert
[o]Brunch @ Thunder Valley
[o]Dad's Blood Sugar Level Dropping to 62
[o]"Family Meeting"
[o]Issues w/IRC & RL Friends

So, to start from the top, Saturday was a busy day. I woke up late-ish, and Julia, Paul, and I left the house around 9:30. I scrapped together a sad excuse of a magazine layout on the drive there, and got done just in time. We parked on 5th and Mission again and Julia and Paul went to the Metreon while I walked down two blocks to the Academy of Art New Montgomery building.

So I get to class and about five minutes later this guy walks in; young, pretty cute, gorgeous baby blues, and a really nice body. Err, I mean, this guy walks in. He looks to be about 25 or so, and explains that Karen Tierney couldn't make it to class today and asked him to fill in for her. Turns out he's one of her students, and he's gonna be graduating this year from the Academy of Art with an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design. He got his Bachelor's in Education at UC Santa Barbara. I felt really bad for the poor guy, cause when Karen left the directions on what to do, she did her calculations wrong and we had to lay out everything over again and trim all of the posters for everyone in class. It was pretty lame. The poor guy thought he was gonna just have to go in, supervise for a bit, and head out. He probably was gonna get extra credit for it, too. But then all of this shit turns out to be wrong, and he's got a classroom of silent, timid-seeming high schoolers that he's got to tell what to do, and he has to get everything done in three hours.

Anyways, we finally get everything laid out right and all that shit, and then a small group of us, like, four-five, pin him down after class and question him. He was really cool about it, though. Earlier in class he'd shown us this project he did for a corporate identity class, and he used VH1 for his mock company. He did a new logo, and designed this whole corporate packet thingy that had a folder, letterhead, business cards, and this spiral bound booklet thinger that detailed the cans and cannots of logo use, the exact color schemes, the different fill styles he used, photo manips of the logo on corporate vehicles.... there was so much info packed into that book. He told us about how it was a semester-long project, the one project for the class, and that it cost him 500+ to put together because of ink cost, binding, paper cost, etc. but that it was only that cheap because he printed everything himself on his nice 2500 color printer (with like, 7 print cartridges for the colors, and then three sets of those 7 cartriges when you include his drafts and test prints~ @.@;;). Soooooooo expensive. He also told me that the packaging classes are the same deal, only worse, because getting the bottles and whatever else manufactured is way more expensive. Apparently people pay companies like, 3000 to manufacture bottles of the right size and shape for them to use just so they can have that one really nice piece in their portfolio. $3000~!!!!! For ONE project!!! >.<;;; So much money.... ~(=_=)~ But yeah... after that I left to go meet Julia and Paul back at the Metreon.

So we drive off to find this Holiday Inn off of VanNess where supposedly Anime Overdose is being held. We're all hoping we have to go to the J-pop House dealer table in the Dealer's Room to pickup the tickets, because we all want to go shopping (I want TeniPuri~~~~ And Julia wants Ghibi, and Paul wants Lupin~) buuuuuuuut, unfortunately for us they set up the J-pop House booth upstairs in the lobby. The dealers room and the rest of the convention was downstairs. We picked up our tickets and were pleasantly surprised that the bags we got with the VIP tickets were shibby looking black messenger bags instead of the hideous yellow and red and clear things they were advertising on the website. I was all excited because I spotted a group of four TeniPuri cosplayers before we left, and the Eiji had these cuuuuuuuute white and red fuzzy kitty ears~ She was so Eiji-ish, all red flippy hair and lanky build <3 The cosplayers at Anime Overdose were so much nicer looking than the ones at Fanime. Almost everyone there was cosplaying, and the PLC cosplayers were fucking AMAZING. Huuuuge elaborate, detailed, ACCURATE costumes~ So awesome! There were like, three groups of them, if I remember correctly. And I saw the guy who always posts on the Fanime boards, the asian guy with the picture of him with kitty ears on, and he was cosplaying Roy Mustang~ <3<3<3 It was kinda creepy cause I was recognizing a lot of people from various cosplay.com pictures, from past Fanime, forums, etc. etc.~ But anyways.

So we go to JTown so that I can pick up the 4th Gorgeous Carat and satisfy my unfulfilled TeniPuri craving by picking up the latest tanokubon, and then walk back to the car and sort out our stuff. Thinning down our stuff to what we want to hold at the concert, we walk over to this high class Swedish restaurant and miraculously get seated on a Saturday night at 6:30 even though we don't have reservations. The place was so... Heidi meets swedish bar wenches. They had this weird cheery Swedish music playing, and one of the items on the menu was called 'Heidi-somethingorother', although I forget what it was now. I think it was a dessert coffee drink thing. Anyways, Paul and Julia are all like "Yeah! Fondue!" so I let them do whatever and order, since I have no idea what non-dessert fondue tastes like. Turns out that it's like... cheese and alcohol. Which is very bad for me, since I hate how alcohol tastes. One of the two pots we got had the THICKEST alcohol taste from the white wine. It was so nasty. The other one was okay once more of the wine burned off, but it was still ucky. I ended up just eating the bread and potatoes and sausage plain since the wine taste was just too BLEH. But it's okay since we all shared a dessert fondue afterwards. Mmmmmm, that was sooooo good, fresh strawberries dipped in warm chocolate, and oh god the Granny Smith apples! That sour tang of green apples mixed with the sweetness of chocolate..... :: melts :: <3<3<3 So after that we left around 7:45 to walk back and line up for the VIP line to get into the concert (they said to come back at 8 to see how the line was).

So we get back to the Holiday Inn and the place is just swarming with people waiting for the lines to start.
